Quite recently a local Island journalist stated that the media has become quite nasty. I wonder why?could it have something to do with latest crop of politicians. Politicians seem only intent on lining their own pockets these days. Many go from Provincial politics into federal and sometimes the other way. I recall a few years ago our four Island MPs were embarrassed by the media released of their annual expense claims for the year. I no longer remember the exact amounts but for three of the four it was over and or close to half million dollars each, of the four, the only actual government member was the lowest at approx $250,000. Remember this is only expenses not salaries, or bonuses or special committees. They fly back and fro to Ottawa, maintain a residence in the capitol and an office and staff on PEI. They claim travel expenses, hotels, meals, and I don’t mean a quick snack at a local fast food outlet. I’m only guessing, but when everything is included I imagine each
Island MP costs tax payers somewhere in the region of a million dollars per year. The big question, what do we tax payers get for that hefty sum. No much from what I can see. Easter is retired living in a large new home, a long way from his early beginnings of an ancient mobile home to a leaky old farm house. McAulay seems he can’t retire even though he is well past his sell by date. He has the nicest barn in the Province, so nice in fact he hosts many federal meeting in it. These are just a couple of examples, there is much much more but it’s kept under wraps best as possible. Perhaps l’m being nasty? If so I’m not about to apologize, there is something seriously wrong with how we elect these parasites to govern this nation. It needs to change before this wonderful country is bankrupt. Perhaps you think me a little harsh? So don’t believe me, ask a homeless person, struggling senior, or disabled veteran.
God Bless and keep reading.
