Last year around November 2022, I visited the Humble Barber.(Summerside)for the first time. I was pleased with the service and the professionalism of the staff. I was well satisfied with my hair cut. My next visit was in the winter and the wheelchair ramp was blocked with snow. I couldn’t get in and had to reschedule my appointment. Since then I have kept an eye on the ramp, it appears never to be cleared. Last week driving by it was not only blocked with snow but a truck was parked directly in front of the ramp. Very disappointing, why have a wheelchair ramp if it is rarely accessible. Perhaps Im their only wheelchair customer, so not a big loss to their business. While Im focusing on the barber, I must point out they are just one of many local business in the Summerside area with either difficult or no wheelchair accessibility. Sobeys men’s washroom is often blocked with a cleaners trolley make it impossible for me to enter. I’m only making the point because I can’t access all local businesses, while at the same time we are asked to shop local. Food for thought!
