So Dennis King has called the election. No surprise to anyone, he has really made it quite obvious for weeks. He feels very confident of winning a majority this time, no more collaboration, no more co-operation, no more minorities, no more hugs. Well I suppose he is probably right, he certainly has the inside info on peoples moods. Yet I have to wonder, 30.000 Islanders have no family doctor, and indeed many have had none for several years. Would these people vote for a party that has done nothing to improve the Doctor shortage. How many people who have recently waited in Emergency rooms see the King government as improving health care? Does anyone really believe in Kings proposed medical school? Just a pipe dream in my view. How many emergency rooms have been closed due staff shortages. If you were homeless, or even struggling to keep a roof over your head, would you vote for the King government. How many concerned residents in the Montague area would be happy with the expansionism of the Gebis/monks. The King government has done nothing to even slow the land grabs. Point Deroche was another example of the King government taking money under the table, or at least it appears so. My own speculation, King will win, but he might be surprised by falling short of a majority. Just my views on this cold and snowy Tuesday morning.
God Bless and keep reading.
