On Saturday evening we were sitting with Mark and Caroline in their Millvale house when we smelled burning. With four young children running around outside, we wondered if they had started the camp fire. Outside we were amazed to see a hot air balloon almost in the front yard. It was close enough for us to hear the pilot asking us for assistance, he was planning to land in a field directly across the road. He was very skilful in handling the balloon and told us exactly where he would land. The field had a crop of soy and he didn’t want to land in the middle of the crop. He carefully guided it to the edge of the field where we helped to hold it down while they deflated it. Quite an amazing thing, much larger than they look in the sky. I looked up inside the balloon and its a vast area of material. By the time we had it safely on the ground the chase truck arrived and shortly after that the balloon was packed up and loaded in the truck. Quite a sight to enjoy on a Saturday evening, then it was back to our glasses of wine.
Cheers and keep reading.
