The Sons of the Fathers

I read in yesterdays Guardian Newspaper the following heading “Trudeau has most vote-drawing among Liberal leadership hopefuls:poll” This is Justin Trudeau son of our late PM Pierre Trudeau.
I really have to wonder if this who the Liberal party want to pin there hopes on in the next election. I have to ask the question do the Liberals really want to regain there standing in Canadian Politics. Before they choose the young Trudeau son as their shining new hope they might pause to consider. Perhaps have a look at Prince Edward Island, we have the son of Joe Ghiz as our Premier. The late Joe Ghiz was a remarkable leader and Premier in the eighties. Today we have his son running this province into the ground. Democracy has been replaced by dictatorship. This government refuses to listen to the wishes of the people and plods on doing whatever suits their personal interests.
We have had protest after protest in front of Province House, we have at least two groups attempting to force plebiscites, letter after letter to the editor, not just in the Guardian but in all the Island papers. Islanders do not normally protest ,do not take to the streets or form groups to oppose provincial governments. At least not before Robert Ghiz arrived on the scene.. Now, I can’t judge if Justin Trudeau would be in the same league. He might become a great PM, I just don’t think now is the time to take such a risky gamble. I can see Stephen Harper rubbing his hands in glee. No real opposition in the next Federal election, Stevie is probably thinking he will be PM for life. Liberals, for God sake forget these sons of fathers and merge with the NDP and the Greens, make a strong and viable opposition that could win the next election.
I’m not against youth or having young people in government, nevertheless, I can’t help thinking I’m a lot wiser today at 73 than I was at 37, maybe that’s worth a thought
Cheers and keep reading.
