Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal

Some time ago I blogged about the fact that all politicians would receive the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal. I also mentioned that not all serving members of the Canadian Forces would receive it. That, at the time seemed like a gross miss use of the award. I actually emailed my member of Parliament Wayne Easter, he of course felt the award was well deserved by himself and his colleagues, he further commented that he knew I considered all politicians were scumbags!!!. Now there is an intelligent remark from a member of the house?? I chose to ignore the stupid comment and moved on to others matters. Other matters indeed, with the latest scandal over the Duffy fraudulent activities along with several other senators, it makes one wonder!!!! All these people received the QDJ medal, all these people are referred to as honourable. Now perhaps here is an opportunity and a very good reason to use the word “scumbag”. Giving these dis-honourable people a medal, any medal is an outrage. It belittles the whole purpose of awarding medals in the first place. I wonder what the brave men and women of the 2nd WW would think of this, they earned their awards the hard way, the way a medal was meant to be earned. Now we have politicians and senators wearing the same Queens medal along side veterans and wounded soldiers on Remembrance Day and other Memorial occasions. If politicians like Easter and Duffy think me a scumbag. I might well consider it an honourable title coming from such questionable people. Just my Sunday morning rant. Its important to rant occasionally. Those who sit in the House in Ottawa need to know how the people feel about our government and honourable members???????
